‘Beyond You & Me – Findhorn

This comes as an invitation to visit Findhorn and experience a workshop around social tools for building strong communities and teams -­‐ while having all your costs (travel, accommodation and course fees) paid for if you are from Europe (EU) and live outside the UK!

A unique possibility -­‐ this might be the last round of EU funding coming through in this particular way… Since this is a different stream, you can apply even if you have had Grundtvig In Service Funding for other workshops or conferences in the past two years.
The workshop is called ‘Beyond You & Me -­‐ Stepping into Active Citizenship’ and is led by Robin Alfred and Kosha Joubert.

 All you need to do is check through the flyer attached, make sure you are interested -­‐ go to the

scroll down and you will be led to the GEN-­‐Europe website and the application form. You then print out the form and send it to us by post.

All this needs to be done by October 12!

The workshop is specifically geared towards those who have not had much access to higher education. Also, don’t worry if your English is not perfect: you can get a small English course paid for to prepare yourself and the course will integrate participants with varying skill and language levels.

We offer you the opportunity to come and live in community with us in Eastern Finland. The place is called Kettulanmäki, meaning hill of the fox, in the northern Savo region. The nearest town Rautavaara is at a two hour bike trip to the west. We live in an old farm surrounded by forest, swamps, creeks and lakes, inhabited by a large community of animals, birds, trees, plants, mushrooms and many more forms of life. The place provides a lot of space for human inhabitants as well. The land owner is unconditionally giving us the opportunity to live in and develop this place.

At the moment two of us, Didi and Pauliina, live in this place where we receive the blessings of berry bush, mushroom forest and waters filled with fish. Our passion is to continue deepening our relationships with the natural world around us and to share this way of life with other human beings who feel the same calling. We plan on continuing to harvest wild foods as well as to have a garden, do crafting, practice primitive skills, make music and arts, live a simple life using civilized resources minimally, cultivate self-reliance and overall lead a holistically healthy life.

Ideally, we would like to live in a clan that dedicates itself to the sharing of every day life; a clan big enough for building a sense of community, yet small enough for a sense of deep relationship. We would love to receive people who are keen to be actively involved, and willing to share skills and knowledge as well as be engaged in compassionate sharing. Families with children and elderly people are warmly welcome.

Logistically, the place provides all basic material needs, so you don’t need to bring anything. Rather, we request for your committed presence for the coming growing season 2013. We don’t ask for a long term commitment but sincerely wish for something long lasting to naturally grow out of this.

We would be more than happy to explore together with you your curiosities, questions, hear your personal stories, motivations or anything else you would like to share. Please do not hesitate in getting in touch with us!

Marda Permaculture Farm in Palestine

This is an urgent call for support of the Marda Permaculture Farm, which is in dire need of financial support to bring it beyond day-to-day survival into a thriving, ecologically and economically sustainable farm and training center. At this time, its finances are at an all- time low, and immediate support is needed to maintain it until further funds are raised through produce sales and grants.

On a scanty budget of about $15,000 to $20,000 per year, the Marda Permaculture Farm has hosted hundreds of international interns and volunteers, provided Permaculture Design Courses for nearly 50 local farmers, agricultural engineers, activists, and backyard gardeners, and about as many international students. With support from local and international partners, the Marda Permaculture Farm has transformed into a thriving model of all-organic local permaculture design featuring traditional Palestinian terraces, swales, a greenhouse, plant guilds, construction using natural building and recycled materials, an orchard, bees, chickens, pigeons, compost system, and much more. It is the only fully developed permaculture farm of its kind in the West Bank.

Perhaps most importantly, over the past four years the farm has gained the support of its surrounding community—the village of Marda, and become a vital source of support for local food production. Local farmers and backyard gardeners visit the site on a daily basis, receiving technical assistance and mentoring from Murad Alkhuffash, and when available, seeds, seedlings, or extra produce. The Farm has provided locals with economic support by hiring local laborers when finances allowed, as well as the opportunity for families to host international students for a fee. Last year, 10 families received technical support and supplies to build graywater systems on their properties, in order to reduce precious fresh water use, reduce water bills, and thus enable more extensive gardening. Also last year, seven families were provided with beehives and training to care for the bees. This year we have applied for funding to support 10 more hives and a honey processor that can be used by community members. The presence of the Marda Farm, and Murad’s diligence in developing it and sharing his knowledge has led to a marked increase in backyard gardens, and production of organic produce in the village of Marda.

Each year Murad struggles to make ends meet. Without the funds to bring on a consistent administrative person to write grants, support income generating strategies, and assist with international communications, Murad becomes overwhelmed, and stressed, as financial resources continue to barely cover costs. The Farm has an urgent need to bring on administrative support and increased local labor to help oversee management of the Farm. This will enable Murad to increase outreach activities, expand farm operations, and build a foundation of financial support and organizational capacity so that it can reach its full potential as a long-term learning site and center for cross- cultural exchange between the people of rural Palestine and the international community.

Olive picking on Kibbutz Gezer

The olives are ripening and the picking season at Kibbutz Gezer is fast approaching. We’re getting excited! There is still space for 2-3 volunteers in the early part of the olive picking season (end of October until mid-November) to come join us. Any age- as long as you’ve got the stamina to rake olives off the trees for 6 hours a day in the sun and rain, shlep them around, and are a generally great person to be around. Healing og Energi Samling

Velkommen til HEALING-/ ENERGISAMLING på Nygård – Kjærleiksgården – Skogmo, Brønnøysund fre. 19. oktober kl 18-21 lør. 20. oktober kl 10-16

Jeg vil veilede i pust og kroppsbevissthet. Jeg vil også legge opp til at dele-sirkler dannes hvor vi øver oss på å kommunisere ifra hjertet. Vi gir og mottar healing, og de som ikke har erfaring med healing og/eller meditasjon vil få veiledning. Dette blir en unik helg hvor vi kan lære av hverandres erfaringer og opplevelser.

Overskuddet går til utvikling av »Nygård – kjærliksgården – et sted for helhet, healing og velvære.» Min visjon er å skape et senter for healing og økologi her på Skogmo i Brønnøysund.

Jeg besørger kaffe, te, frukt, nøtter og kjeks. Hvis noen vil overnatte her hos meg så er du/dere velkommen til det. Jeg har rom for 4-8 personer. Hvis du vil overnatte; ta med sengetøy og en sort pålegg og brød som vi deler til frokost/kvelds og lunsj. Det er plass til ca 13 personer i stua her, så vær snill og si ifra om du kommer eller ei i god tid.

Intensjonen for samlingen bestemmer du selv, det kan f.eks. være å komme i et møte med deg selv, din visdom, leve fra hjertet – i LYS, kjærlighet, enhet med alt og alle. For meg handler det om å være her og nå, i sansene, itillit til at alt er sørget for, slappe av, gi slipp på alt negativt som hindrer meg i å elske meg selv…

Jeg gleder meg til å være sammen med dere i energiene, dele med hverandre hvordan vi opplever healing, energiene, og vår utvikling inn i den nye tiden. Alle som er interessert i healing og som vil ta ansvar for eget liv er velkommen, du trenger ingen erfaring med healing eller meditasjon. Bare et åpent sinn og et ønske om å åpne opp og bli bedre kjent med deg selv. »Vi er de vi har ventet på… Jeg føler deg, du føler meg…»

Open Mind Conference 19.-21. Oktober

Konferansen er inspirert av livet og arbeidet til Rosalie Bertell, forskeren og nonnen som fikk “The Right Livelihood Award” (“Alternativ Nobelpris”) i Oslo i 1986 og som døde i juni 2012. Hennes siste bok “Planet Earth, the latest Weapon of War?” har forutsett mye av det som skjer foran øynene våre akkurat nå. Som medlem i de medisinske kommisjonene etter Bhopal og Tsjernobyl har hun stått opp mot korrupsjon og uvitenhet – nå inspirerer hun oss til handling overfor geo-engineering, HAARP og andre klima- våpen.
